Hop harvest 2023
We present you with a detailed 2023 hop harvest report in the Czech Republic. A total of 21 varieties of hops are now grown in the Czech Republic on the acreage of 4,860 ha.The largest acreage of 4,047 ha has the traditional Žatec red wine hops / Saaz / with a yield of 5,331 tons and an average alpha acid content declared at 2.60%.Next is the Sládek variety on the acreage of 410 ha with a yield of 830 tons and an average alpha acid content of 6.10%, followed by the Premiant variety on the acreage of 198 ha with a yield of 452 tons and an average alpha of 7%.They are followed by the following hop varieties: Agnus / 78 ha, 145 tons /, Saaz Special / 41 ha, 67 tons /, Saaz Late / 32 ha, 65 tons /, Kazbek / 22 ha, 53 tons / and Harmonie / 7 ha, 15 tons /.As new varieties are concerened, we stock practically all varieties such as Bohemia, Blues, Country, Gaia, Rubín, Saaz Shine, Saaz Comfort, Saturn, Vital, Jupiter and others.The average contents of alpha acids continues to decrease due to hot weather in July and early August.Hops are a long-term plant and we recommend you to order hops from the 2024 harvest, thus ensuring a guaranteed supply for yourself and a guarantee for the growers as well.
